Let’s take a look at some foods that you should include in your diet to fight cellulite. It’ll be hard to get rid of cellulite completely only with diet, but the anti-cellulite diet can be very helpful.

Are you keen on getting rid of cellulite once and for all? If yes, look no further. Although there are other effective ways of getting rid of cellulite, like exercising, what you eat is a very important part of the equation. There are a number of foods that have been tested and proven to effectively fight cellulite. These foods have a number of things in common, the most notable being, they discourage fat storage. They do this through a number of ways i.e., boosting the body’s metabolism, detoxifying the body, repairing connective tissue among many other ways. Read below for more information on what you should be eating to get rid of cellulite. Below is a list of top foods to include in your diet:

Table of Contents

  • 1. Avocado
  • 2. Dark Berries
  • 3. Lemons and Limes
  • 4. Peppers
  • 5. Olive Oil
  • 6. Green Tea
    • 7. Ginger
  • Anti-cellulite Supplement
  • Summary

1. Avocado

Avocados are great cellulite fighting foods because of a number of things, the most notable being, they Avocadoare great for combating hormonal factors that cause cellulite. Avocados are rich in potassium and folate, which are known to balance insulin levels perfectly. When your insulin levels are balanced, your body utilizes blood sugar effectively minimizing storage of excess glucose as fat under the skin. Although avocados are packed with fat, they contain good fat (monounsaturated fat i.e., oleic acid) which has numerous benefits to the body i.e., fighting inflammation. In fact, your body needs this kind of fat to work optimally. Healthy fats such as those found in avocados are actually good for triggering weight loss because they boost the body’s metabolism. Instead of using margarine among other spreads like butter, you can substitute those spreads with avocado to fight cellulite effectively.

2. Dark Berries

Dark berries such as blackberries and blueberries are also great for fighting cellulite because they blackberry pile isolated on whitepromote collagen production, which is crucial for creating brand new skin tissue which in turn improves the skin’s texture and tone. Cellulite bumps are known to worsen skin texture and tone. Including dark berries in your diet as snacks, ingredients in salads or as part of your daily fruit diet is therefore important if you want to get rid of cellulite. Furthermore, dark berries are also rich in antioxidants, which are known to break down fat cells attached to the skin’s connective tissue. When this happens, the skin is able to store fat beneath it effectively as opposed to the fat being able to push forward resulting in a bumpy appearance.

3. Lemons and Limes

Lemons should also be part of your diet for getting rid of cellulite because of their great ability to lower the negative impact of consuming excess carbohydrates. Unfortunately, the most popular diets in society today are packed with carbohydrates. Considering excess carbohydrates are stored in the body as fat, it’s important to consume foods that reduce this destructive effect. Carbohydrates are digested fast and converted into sugar, which affects insulin levels. Lemons slow down this process and offer other health benefits, such as cleansing the liver, since they are packed with antioxidants. This lowers estrogen levels and also boosts metabolism increasing the body’s capacity to get rid of excess body fat. To enjoy the cellulite fighting benefits of lemons, add fresh lemon juice into salads. You should also make a point of drinking a glass of freshly squeezed lemon juice every day.

4. PeppersBeautiful woman teeth eating red hot chili pepper

Chili and cayenne peppers are also great inclusions to your diet when you want to get rid of cellulite. This can be attributed to their high vitamin B6 levels. Vitamin B6 has many health benefits, like restoring and fortifying connective tissue, which plays a huge role in getting rid of cellulite. You should substitute hot sauce with chili and cayenne peppers in your diet to get the best results. Besides being rich in vitamin B6, chili and cayenne peppers also boost metabolism for hours after they are consumed. Research studies indicate that you can boost your metabolism by approximately 25 percent three hours after consuming chili and cayenne peppers. Including the peppers in your daily diet will therefore boost your weight loss efforts which will in turn help you get rid of cellulite.

5. Olive Oil

You should also substitute regular oil in your diet with olive oil to be able to get rid of cellulite. As green olives and oilmentioned above, healthy fat actually promotes weight loss. Contrary to popular belief, not all fat is bad. The body needs healthy fats such as olive oil to perform optimally. Olive oil contains healthy fats (monounsaturated fats) and polyphenols which help to boost thyroid health. When the thyroid is functioning optimally, the body burns fat more effectively. To get the best results, add olive oil in your salads and vegetables. Also, remember to cook olive oil at low temperatures.

6. Green Tea

Green tea is another great substitute for regular tea and coffee when you want to get rid of cellulite. The green teaactive ingredient in green tea i.e., EGCG (Epigallocatechin gallate) is known to boost metabolism increasing the body’s fat burning capacity. This in turn stops fat cell expansion, which is known to cause cellulite. Green tea is also rich in antioxidants, which flush out toxins in the body promoting organ health. When all organs in the body are working optimally, the body doesn’t have problems regaining and maintaining healthy weight which gets rid of cellulite. Green tea also doesn’t dehydrate like coffee. As a result, the tea doesn’t make your body hold liquids and toxins which expand fat beneath the skin causing cellulite.

7. Ginger

Ginger Root

Ginger is one of the most wonderful herbs used for its many healing properties for thousand years. It’s praised both in traditional Chinese medicine and in Ayurveda, and also in other folk medicine. It also helps to fight cellulite because it improves circulation. Ginger is also an ingredient of many anti-cellulite juices and smoothies.

You can take it as ginger tea, or add it in a dry powder form or a fresh root, to many different dishes. It’ll be very beneficial not only for cellulite for your overall health.

Anti-cellulite Supplement

This is not a food, but I’m writing about it, because it is a supplement that can help you get rid of cellulite faster, and in an easy way. It goes very well with the anti-cellulite foods I wrote about above. If you take Cellinea cellulite pills, you can see the positive results much faster, especially if you also exercise.

I have reviewed Cellinea Pills here.

Summary

The above information summarizes the top foods to include in your diet for getting rid of cellulite. Although there are other foods that are also effective in getting rid of cellulite, the above foods are adequate enough for you provided they are substituted effectively in your daily diet. You should eat more of these foods than any other foods if you want to get rid of cellulite effectively.

    Hi Sandy,

I’m glad to say that 5 of the 6 foods form a regular part of my diet. I’m not so fussed on hot peppers, though I will eat just a bit.

Cellulite is just awful and to think we can eat our way to be freeing of it is fantastic.

Thanks for sharing this wonderful information.

      Hi Marilyn,

      You’re welcome.

From my experience apart from eating the right foods, exercise is very important. I wrote more about exercise at How to Get Rid of Cellulite with Exercise. There is also special anti cellulite workout created by Joey Atlas.

      Hi Liz,

Thank you for your nice words. I’m glad you like it.

I don’t have any special recipes. The fruits I usually it as snacks, not with meals. Whenever I feel, I want to have a snack, then instead of eating some junk food I eat some fruit. It’s good to eat fruit on its own because then you get more value from it. Exception is the avocado, which sometimes I add to salads. I try to have a raw vegetable salad every day and I always add extra virgin olive oil to it. I add some olive oil, and sometimes some Japanese dressing or a little apple cider vinegar. I often also add some spices, like turmeric, black and white pepper, ginger, chili or cayenne red pepper in powder, or curry powder. And I always add some lime or lemon juice to my salads.

I drink green tea usually after meals. The first thing in the morning, I drink some water with lime juice (sometimes with lemon juice). I just squeeze a lime into a glass of water and add a teaspoon or two of honey. It’s a great detox.

To me this page focused too much on what to eat and the shortcut side of weight loss. However, as a personal trainer and overall fitness freak I can ensure you that these methods do work, but they are definitely not something that should be advertised on a front page of some weight loss program. The first thing is always being in caloric defitcit and no food on this planet will make this fact go away. These foods that this webpage advetises do help you stay healthier than a regular person, but as far as losing weight goes – does not matter.

As the title of the page says, this page is about getting rid of cellulite, not about losing weight. I wonder if you read the content of the page, as there are no weight loss programs on the page. So, I have no idea what you’re talking about.

The foods on the page help you get rid of cellulite and you can lose weight too. The so popular calories counting which you seem to advocate isn’t the way to lose weight or get rid of the cellulite. It’s important what you eat, not how many calories you get. Are you saying that for example 300 calories from a junk food snack is the same as 300 calories from some healthy fruit? Counting calories doesn’t work in my opinion: http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2011/08/13/many-restaurants-underestimate-calories-in-their-dishes.aspx

Are there exercises you can do to increase your rate or odds of improvement? What about creams or moisturizers with these kinds of ingredients in them? do you have any that you’d recommend? I’m starting to see cellulite have new having birthed three children and I’ve just turned 30! But I hear it’s one of those things that’s genetic and you just can’t do much about it.

The best exercises for cellulite are the exercises invented by Joey Atlas. I also agree with Joey Atlas when he says that the cause of cellulite is not genetic and that many women do nothing about cellulite because they believe it’s genetic. The cellulite is caused by atrophied muscle fibers under the skin, so the best way to get rid of cellulite is to make the muscles strong again. He is against the anti-cellulite creams and I also agree that the creams only, is not the solution. But some creams, when applied together with the exercises and diet can speed up the process of killing the cellulite. I wrote about cellulite creams here.

      Hi Sofia,

Yes, I had used many anti-cellulite products and the cellulite used to come back. I got rid of cellulite for good in less than 1 month by doing Naked Beauty exercises which I described here and following the diet I describe on this website. But the main thing was the Naked Beauty Program. The other methods I used did not work well for me, though I saw some improvement using some anti-cellulite creams.

      Thanks,

      Sandy

Hi. Glad to see that the foods recommended to help fight cellulite are yummy. I love berries! Not such a fan of hot peppers though. I have three kids so I am trying to get my body back in shape after being pregnant for 3 of 4 years. Do you have any suggestions on how to get more lemon in my diet besides just drinking it? I’m not sure I could do that without adding lots of sugar, and I think that would defeat the purpose 🙂

      Hi Melissa,

Instead of sugar you might add honey.

I like adding some lemon juice to salad dressing and tea 🙂

Hello Sandy. Thanks for the enlightening article about how much diet plays a part in cellulite. My wife works out so hard to get rid of it, and is always frustrated about the less than perfect results. Perhaps a little change in both our diet would be a good thing anyway. The best part about your food suggestions is that I love every one of them, especially avocado. We’re from California and we love our avocados. I also enjoy cooking fish with olive oil. Do you have any recipes on site for those that are food illiterate like myself? Thanks for all the pertinent information. Geoff.

      Hello Geoff,

I’m glad that you like it. I also love avocados. There are no recipes on this site, because there are already lots of recipes on the internet, and this site is mostly about getting rid of cellulite, which can be done by exercise mainly. If your wife isn’t happy with her results she should read this.

      Thanks,

      Sandy

Thank you for this informative post.

Cellulite does cause many problems and it was nice to know that these foods can be taken to get rid of cellulite… thank you for that information!

Would a specific recipe which includes avocado such as guacamole be as effective or should it be eaten with a salad?

    Thanks once again.

    Cheers,
