I have heard talk about turmeric for cellulite relief… and honestly, I have been wondering about this, too.

Others say that Turmeric is going to be big in the beauty industry. It has proven to be useful not only for food, but in skin care products as well. This natural anti-inflammatory works wonders for skin problems from acne to aging.

It also contains antibacterial properties which means that it can cleanse the skin to rid of acne and stabilize sebum production. Thus, it is safe to say that it can help you enhance your skin eventually after consistent usage.

This is just the start of this exciting discourse as I found out that there is more to turmeric. Don’t you think turmeric for cellulite relief is promising? Let’s discuss further in this post. But before we get to that part, let us talk about the basics of cellulite.

Cellulite Defined

When you stand in front of the mirror, there’s this familiar feeling that suddenly creeps up on you when you see your dimpled skin. Because your confidence is affected, you hide your arms, legs, and body in pants and big shirts. Those dimples that you are hiding are called cellulite.

They occur when accumulated fat deposits compress and push against the connective tissues of your skin. This gives the cellulite their cheese-like look.

Over 80% of women suffer from cellulite after hitting puberty. But what causes it apart from fat?

  • Genetics
  • Age
  • Estrogen level
  • Weakening epidermis
  • Collagen loss
  • Increase in body weight
  • Hormonal imbalance
  • Alcohol intake
  • Smoking
  • Sedentary lifestyle
  • Consumption of some medication
  • Possible underlying genetic disorder

Now that we got to know cellulite even more, let’s talk about turmeric.

What Can Turmeric Offer?

Turmeric adds a different taste to food. But did you know that turmeric has been used as medicine in different parts of Asia for centuries?

Turmeric is known to fight inflammations in the body. In addition to that, it is noted to possibly prevent cancer, relieve swelling and pain related to arthritis, control the onset of diabetes, stabilize cholesterol levels, and more.

In the beauty industry, turmeric has been revered by many because of the surprises that it brings. Did you know that it can help your skin heal quicker? It even helps prevent premature aging by keeping your skin’s elasticity. As I have mentioned earlier, it combats acne and controls oil production. It can even minimize the appearance of stretch marks.

Based on studies conducted, turmeric lessens skin damage due to UV rays and hinders onset of skin cancer. All those reasons make the turmeric a legendary spice that does not only add excitement to everyday dishes, but also keeps you healthy inside and out.

But turmeric for cellulite relief? Can this be possible?

Turmeric for Cellulite?

Turmeric is packed with a compound called curcumin, which effectively lessens fat deposits in your body. As a result, it can diminish the occurrence of cellulite.

Furthermore, it promotes healthy blood flow while flushing out toxins, and reduces bloating. All these make a world of difference for those who are suffering from cellulite.

Having said so, turmeric for cellulite remedy is seen as one of the alternative home remedies for cellulite with big potential.

Turmeric For Cellulite Recipes

turmeric paste preparation

There are a few turmeric recipes that you can create if you want to minimize the appearance of cellulite. Here’s the first:

Turmeric-Coffee Scrub

You will need the following ingredients for this:

  • 1/2 cup of turmeric powder
  • 1/2 cup of fresh coffee grounds
  • 2 cups of water
  • 2 tablespoons of coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon of honey

Procedure:

1. Grind whole coffee beans. Put the freshly ground coffee grounds into a jar. Refrigerate if you intend to make the paste the next day.

2. Pour half a cup of turmeric powder into two cups of water in a saucepan.

3. Let it simmer over medium heat.

4. Stir regularly until a paste forms out of the mixture. This will take some time, so be patient.

5. Transfer the thick turmeric paste into a jar or bowl.

6. Add in the coffee grounds and mix well. Make sure that you thoroughly mix the ingredients.

7. Add optional ingredients such as coconut oil and honey. Coconut oil helps moisturize the skin and will be a great addition to your scrub. Honey, on the other hand, has antibacterial properties. These two ingredients can make your scrub become semi-solid below room temp. We suggest that you keep it somewhere warm before you use it. Better yet, put it under the sun for a while before scrubbing.

Application:

1. Take a dollop of the paste and apply it to affected areas.

2. Leave it on for 15 minutes.

3. Rinse off when you shower or use a hot towel to remove the scrub.

You can apply the scrub on your face as a face mask too. If you see that your skin looks a bit orange-y, massage coconut oil onto the area and gently rub a cotton pad over it. Coffee is an aggressive exfoliant so we suggest that you use this combo once a week especially on your face.

What I like most about this scrub is that you can personalize it according to your needs. For instance, you can add a bit of milk or aloe vera for added moisture to dry skin. Those who need a solution for infections can add raw honey. You can add anything you want as long as your skin loves it.

Here’s an alternative to the paste above.

Turmeric for Cellulite Paste

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon of turmeric powder
  • 1 tablespoon of honey
  • 2 tablespoons of bentonite clay
  • A few drops of tea tree oil

Procedure:

There’s only one step, which is to combine all the ingredients. The next thing to do is to massage the paste on your problem areas. Rinse off with warm water after leaving it on for 20 minutes. Do this once every two weeks.

A word of caution though: turmeric’s color is pretty difficult to wash off clothes and skin. Those with fair skin should use this magic spice with utmost care.

We suggest that you apply the scrub after work (or if you don’t have plans later in the day) so no one else will see you while you look a little orange. This will be for a few hours and it will wear off after quite some time.

Don’t put the scrub before you sleep as well as this will stain your pillow cases and bed sheets.

The mixture that we will introduce next is a bit different as you will have to ingest this. Here’s what you need:

  • 1 tablespoon of turmeric powder
  • 1 tablespoon of honey

Procedure:

As usual, combine the ingredients to form a paste. Ingest the paste two times per day for a few weeks.

But if you are looking for something else to ingest such as a food supplement, you might want to try Turmeric Curcumin Plus.
