We have talked about many possible cellulite removers on this blog, including yoga help with cellulite. But, we have barely touched this topic. It’s time to write more about yoga for cellulite, including some yoga poses for cellulite.
Those who have tried doing yoga will know that it strengthens your body and calms your mind. But can those two qualities help us in our goal to lessen cellulite? Or can yoga offer more? Let us discover in this post if yoga for cellulite reduction is possible.
Is Cellulite Reduction with Yoga Possible?
I like looking at myself in the mirror. But then again, I didn’t like those moments when I saw cellulite creeping up on my thighs and bum. Fortunately, yoga can still do something for us who frown at the sight of spongy cellulite.
Apart from alleviating stress and keeping your head clear, doing yoga also has an effect on cellulite. If you are not aware by now, cellulite is a manifestation of lessened lymph circulation.
Just to jog your memory, lymph is a fluid that has our white blood cells. Doing yoga aids in the proper circulation of lymph so it can flow smoothly over fat deposits, release toxins, and lessen the appearance of cellulite. Positions that require you to go upside down are better for lymph flow.
Having said so, it is safe to say that yoga for cellulite elimination works.
Yoga For Cellulite: Poses That Work
Aside from eating healthy, drinking plenty of water, and lots of rest, yoga can also eliminate cellulite by toning your problem areas and burning fat. It keeps the dimples from appearing in the future as well.
To diminish the cheese-like bumps on your skin, we recommend that you do the exercises below for 20 minutes, three times per week. Don’t forget to add 30 minutes of cardio workout too to boost your cellulite-busting effort.
STANDING FORWARD BEND
Start by standing, making sure that your legs are together and focus your weight on the balls of your feet. As you take a deep breath, stretch your two arms straight over your head, and keep them close to your ears.
Keep your legs straight and exhale. Take a bow by bending forward at your waist. Slowly reach and grab the back of your legs. Just make sure that your legs don’t lock. Hold the position for 8 slow, deep breaths.
CHAIR POSE
Stand and keep your feet hip-distance apart. Distribute your weight evenly between your feet. Keep your back straight and your arms at your sides.
Take a deep breath, and sit down slowly like you would if you are about to sit on a chair. Transfer your weight to your hips and heels as you lift your arms over your head with your palms close together or, alternately, just keep your arms parallel to each other with your palms facing in.
Try to sit as far as you can. If possible, make it an objective to do a 90-degree angle with your legs. Remember to keep your back straight. Do this for 8 breaths. Repeat this 3 times.
These are just 2 poses for yoga for cellulite, and there’s still a few more to come. Are you ready for more?
EAGLE POSE
We suggest that those who have frail knees, or poor sense of balance do this near a steady support such as a wall just to be safe.
Stand and keep your feet shoulder-distance apart and evenly distribute your weight between your feet. As usual, keep your back straight and your arms at your sides.
Raise your arms and wrap your right elbow with your left elbow. Keep your palms facing each other. Lift your right leg and wrap your right knee over your left knee. Steady yourself using your left leg. Gently bend your right foot behind your left ankle.
Slightly bend your left knee so you seem to be sitting in a chair. Hold your position for 5 breaths. Reverse your arms and legs, and repeat.
WARRIOR III POSE
Stand and keep your feet hip-distance apart. Distribute your weight on both your feet, keep your back straight, and your arms on your sides.
Step your right foot about one foot distance in front. Tip your weight onto your right leg. Raise your hands over your head and keep your palms together.
As you raise your left leg behind you, slowly drop your head and torso so you form a straight horizontal line from your head to toe. By now, you have formed a T with your body. Make sure that your right kneecap is not locked and your back is straight. Keep the position for 5 breaths. Return to your basic position and switch legs. Repeat.
COW FACE POSE
Sit down but stretch your legs in front of you. Next, bend your knees so that your feet are close to your body. Move your right leg under your left leg so your right foot is close to your left hip.
Pull your left foot towards your right hip. This position puts your left knee on top of your right knee. You will feel that your thighs stretch out a bit.
Extend your left arm and bend your elbow as you reach behind your back. As you do that, reach behind using your right arm and bend your elbow. At that point, your right forearm should be along your spine and your right hand’s back is in between your shoulder blades. Interlace the fingers of your right hand with those of your left.
Breathe. Then, bend forward so your chest is near your knees. Keep the position for 10 breaths. Release the position. Switch legs and repeat.
What do you think of these yoga poses for cellulite so far? How are you managing? It’s okay if you still find it hard to get into the poses. Don’t worry. It just takes getting used to and you will get better after each session.
BRIDGE POSE
Start by lying on your back. Keep your feet flat on the floor or mat, hip-width apart. If you can touch your middle finger to your heels, then this means that your legs are far enough from each other.
Lift your hips and butt off the mat by pressing down into your feet. Imagine that there is something underneath your midsection. Keep your shoulders down as your tailbone goes up.
Interlock your hands under your hips and press your fists, specifically your pinky fingers into the mat. Stay in this position for 8 breaths. Repeat three times.
These above are just a few of yoga poses that are very good for cellulite. But, to be honest, to do yoga properly, to get rid of cellulite and lose weight, it would be better if you do a yoga course with a professional yoga teacher.
