What is SmoothShapes?
SmoothShapes is a non-invasive cellulite treatment designed to target problem areas using a combination of dynamic laser and light therapy. Developed to improve skin texture and elasticity, the treatment aims to reduce the appearance of cellulite over time.
The procedure works by combining laser and light energy to liquefy fat cells. Once liquefied, the fat is naturally expelled by the body’s lymphatic system, while the skin’s collagen production is stimulated to improve elasticity.
How Does SmoothShapes Work?
SmoothShapes utilizes photomology, a patented process combining two key technologies:
- Dynamic Laser and Light Energy: These penetrate the skin’s surface to liquefy fat.
- Mechanical Massage and Vacuum: This encourages lymphatic drainage and improves circulation, assisting the body in expelling fat cells.
The treatment is often described as relaxing and pain-free, with most sessions lasting about 30 minutes per targeted area.

Patient Eligibility: Who Should Consider SmoothShapes?
Not every cellulite treatment is suitable for everyone, and SmoothShapes is no exception. Knowing whether you’re an ideal candidate for this procedure can save you time and money while setting the right expectations.
Who Would Benefit Most?
SmoothShapes is particularly effective for individuals with:
- Mild to Moderate Cellulite: The treatment works best for those with noticeable but not severe cellulite.
- Good Skin Elasticity: Patients with firmer, more elastic skin often see better results as the treatment enhances collagen production.
- Realistic Expectations: While SmoothShapes can reduce the appearance of cellulite, it is not a one-time cure or a weight-loss solution.
Who Should Avoid SmoothShapes?
This treatment may not be suitable for:
- Pregnant Women: Due to the use of light and laser energy, it’s advisable to postpone treatments until after pregnancy.
- Severe Cellulite Cases: Patients with advanced cellulite might require more intensive treatments, such as laser liposuction or other surgical options.
- Certain Medical Conditions: Individuals with skin infections, open wounds, or sensitivity to light should consult with a doctor before considering SmoothShapes.
Benefits of SmoothShapes
- Non-Invasive: No needles, no downtime, and no surgical risks.
- Relaxing Experience: Patients often describe the sessions as soothing, akin to a deep tissue massage.
- Improved Skin Texture: Enhanced collagen production leads to firmer, smoother skin over time.
What Are the Drawbacks?
Like all treatments, SmoothShapes has its limitations:
- Multiple Sessions Required: For noticeable results, most people need 6-8 sessions.
- Cost: Prices range from $200 to $400 per session, depending on the clinic and area treated.
- Temporary Results: Maintenance treatments may be needed to sustain results.
Before and After: Does It Deliver?
Many users report visible improvements after completing their treatment plan. However, results depend on factors like the severity of cellulite and adherence to a healthy diet and exercise routine.
Here’s an example of what you might expect:
Before Treatment | After Treatment |
---|---|
Uneven texture and dimpling | Smoother, firmer appearance |
Limited skin elasticity | Improved tone and resilience |
What Do Experts Say?
Dr. Jessica Reynolds, a board-certified dermatologist, explains,
“SmoothShapes has shown promise in targeting cellulite by stimulating the body’s natural processes. However, patients should maintain realistic expectations—it’s not a one-and-done solution.”
Additionally, studies published in peer-reviewed journals highlight that combining phototherapy with mechanical stimulation improves overall results compared to standalone methods.
How Does SmoothShapes Compare to Other Treatments?
- Endermologie: Focuses on deep-tissue massage using rollers. Effective but less targeted than SmoothShapes.
- CoolSculpting: Freezes fat cells for permanent removal but does not improve skin texture.
- Laser Liposuction: More invasive and typically requires downtime.
A Brief History of SmoothShapes
SmoothShapes was developed to offer a non-invasive solution for cellulite reduction by combining laser and light technology with mechanical massage. The treatment was designed to address the underlying causes of cellulite rather than just its surface appearance.
FDA Approval
SmoothShapes received clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), validating its safety and efficacy for cellulite treatment. This clearance ensures the treatment meets stringent medical standards.

Holy cow! I had no idea there was so much information available on cellulite!
This is so cool and such a good read. As I’m sure many women are, I’m hyper-aware of all those dimples on my butt and the rear, upper parts of my thighs. It’s great to know about all the ways I can counter that cellulite.
I’m sure nobody but me notices it. I try to eat well and exercise the best I can. I love the blip at the end about coconut oil. I LOVE coconut oil! That stuff is incredibly versatile. I use it to cook, moisturize, and now cellulite!
Thanks for the information.

I totally agree that many different treatments should be implemented to get rid of cellulite and the importance of making lifestyle changes that will help cure and eventually prevent further spread or return to affected areas. Diets, exercise, creams and supplements should all be tried before trying something as drastic as surgery, because even though it’s considered minor and ambulatory, all surgeries posses risks and should only be considered for the worst cases when all else failed.
Thanks for the comment,

Hey there.
This is a very detailed article. I appreciate all the info on cellulite treatment. I am doing some research and this could write my entire paper.
I lose and gain weight easily. I have high metabolism so I eat a lot but as soon as I gain a little weight, if I drop off the eating wagon for a few days I end up loosing up to 8 lbs. So now I am battling with small cellulite formations on vulnerable areas such as my thighs. They are not very visible but gosh I hate them.
This helped both for me personally and for my presentation so thank you. Amazing Website you have here.
Hi Crystal,
Thank you for the nice comment.
